Partner of cancer more often GP
Partners of cancer patients visits in the period after diagnosis often their GP than before. They are mainly due to physical or psychosocial problems.

According to a publication by researchers of NIVEL in the Scandinavian Journal of Primary Health Care
Researchers looked at the GP of the partners of patients in the period of six months to two years after the cancer diagnosis. In that period, the partners visited their GP more frequently than before. In breast, prostate and colon cancer partner respectively 31, 26 and 19 percent went to the doctor more often.
A major reason for the visit was that he or she has trouble with the illness of the partner, but also physical symptoms may be the reason , such as sleep problems, pain, or care for pre-existing chronic conditions such as diabetes. From other studies it is known that partners of patients with colon and lung cancer are hospitalized, mostly because of psychiatric problems more often.
